Many of you already know that we are having a GIRL but on October 13th, 2008 it was made official by ultrasound and the blog has finally been updated to that date. We had a pre-liminary ultrasound done at week 15 by a friend and she told us it looked like it was a BOY! We were excited and for three weeks I had visions of being a mom of boys!
However, on October 13th we were having our regular 19 week ultrasound with our Dr's. office ultrasound tech and she asked what we thought we were having in the beginning and we told her boy because we had already had an ultrasound done by a friend. She didnt say a thing and continued doing the whole ultrasound checking measurements, etc. until about 20 minutes later she said she was going to confirm the gender.
At the office, they have a huge flat screen in front of Josh and I that shows the whole ultrasound that she does. We were both watching the screen, enjoying all the images of our cute boy, until she put an arrow to the private parts and typed on the screen, "It's a GIRL!" We seriously were in complete shock!! I had tears coming from my eyes and I just couldn't believe it. I honestly just wanted a healthy baby but we were not sure if we would have more kids so the thought of never having a girl seemed sad somedays but then again having two boys 28 months apart seemed as though that could be easier for them to have each other play with, eithier way we were so happy!
Josh was very excited about having "Daddy's little girl!" He had said to me in the previous few weeks, he was only sad that he would never get to walk his little girl down the aisle or dance with her at her wedding and I thought that was so sweet and felt bad that he really may not....well now his dream has come true! The ultrasound tech gave us the 100% guarntee and said she hasnt been wrong in 19.5 years....only time will tell:)
Here are some pics to confirm her findings of our sweet GIRL! Doesn't she look pretty:)
PS The ulrasound tech said she saw the GIRL parts right at the beginning of the ultrasound when she asked us what we though it was, she humored us and continued with the whole ultrasound referring to the baby as a "he". She was quite sneaky!
