On August 7th, Owen and I, my mom, and my sister Kelly with her three kids, Macy, Makenna, and Kai ventured off to the Zoo. Yes, we did look at the weather the night before and all agreed it was a good idea to go.....why, I dont know! I think it was nearly 90 degrees when we got there when the gates opened. Walking around the zoo in 90+ degree heat with 4 children under the age of 4 for about 5 hours was an adventure to say the least. Needless to say we spent a good hour in the so called spray park (The Zoo people need to venture up to the northside and see a real spray park) but it did the job and we all tried to get wet to cool off, yes even the adults did! We had lunch in the indoor building with the AC and did manage to walk around and see most of the fun exhibits. Owen really enjoyed looking at the big animals or at least he stared at them anyway making me think he enjoyed them. He wasnt to fond of the Dolphin Show but it was hot and it was dark in the arena and we were sitting, not a good combination for a 9 month old. He ALWAYS wants to be moving. However despite the heat, all in all the day was fun and Owen got to experience the Zoo this summer for the first time with many of his fun cousins. Here are a handful of pics (OK a lot of pics, but after all I love taking pictures and it was Owen's first trip to the Zoo-so its a good excuse to take a lot) from the sweaty day:
