On December 17th, our little guy just didnt seem to be acting like his usual self. He had a horrible cough (worse than I think I have ever had) and wasn't breathing to well. After waiting Sunday out, on Monday we took him in to see his pediatrician. She tested him for RSV and sure enough our little 8 week old bundle of joy was sick, he did in fact have RSV. She sent me home with a breathing machine and we spent a half hour every three hours using the fun machine. Below are some pictures of the fun. As you can see from the second picture he got quite use to it however he wasn't always this fond of the loud machine.
However, the night of the 18th he went downhill. The machine didnt seem to be doing much, he was breathing way more breaths per minute than he should and he was coughing and not regaining his breath real well. So as scared parents of their first child do, we phoned the Dr. and sure enough she said he needed to go to the hospital to be checked. Josh and I, a bit more frantically than probally nessesary zoomed off to the ER. We spent a dreadful 6-7 hours in a freezing cold ER room in the middle of the night with nothing more than a hospital bed and a folding chair. It was miserable and their were so many babies waiting to be transferred to the PEDs wing that unfortunatly it took forever. After a long wait we got a room in the Pediatric wing. Fortunatly, one thing turned out well. The room was very nice, we were the first patients in the new Pediatric wing at Community North and he had great nurses. Owen was given further breating treatments and was monitered closely all day on Tuesday. On Tuesday night we were sent home with a scheduled Dr's office check up the next day. On Wednsday we took him back in to find out he had ear infections, poor little guy. For the next three weeks we did breathing treatments and gave him antibiotics. Luckily, within a few weeks little Owen was feeling better!! Had to get some pictures of his first hospital visit and hopefully his last!
What a great Aunt, Kelly came to visit Owen and cuddle with him for a few hours at the hospital!
